Katrina Thomas, Founder of UDA
Katrina Thomas (BA Hons), founder of UDA regularly took part in gymnastics and dance as a child in a community setting. Coming from a working class background in a poor socio-economic area of London, Katrina left home for University to show the younger generation of her family that with hard work and determination we can exceed what’s expected of an individual from a poor socio- economic background.
Shortly after university, she found a new calling by becoming a mother. She had a baby boy who has taken her on a long and lesson filled journey due to his ADHD. At school, his special educational needs often led to him feeling anxious, depressed & isolated. Seeing the way some children with mental health problems are singled out at school, has led Katrina to pursue sports as a way of helping others, by providing a safe environment for children to express themselves, free of judgement.
